Michelle and Romy part 2 - the Evening Event.

The main event for the reunion was a dinner at the Maryborough (or Maryfucker as my friend Esther reminded me) RSL club up in the Heritage room. The organisers did an amazing job getting everything, everyone organised.
The photographer was back and attendees interpretations of smart casual encompassed everything from cameltoe tight jeans and sneakers teamed with a Malibu Tshirt - to brightly coloured bad fabrics (ie show every lump, bump, stretchmark etc) old bridesmaids frocks to thick opaque stockings teamed with strappy open toed silver shoes. Oh and being a country town there were a few 'updos' from the local hairdressers. The menfolk were so not much better - what man over the age of 8 wears a spiderman shirt? seriously - it was probably his only collared shirt. Actually the majority of the men where (expected) shocking. Huge beerguts, bad clothes, bad manners, bogans who looked at least 10 years older than they should. I am so pleased I never ever ever slept with anyone from my school/hometown.
Oh there were also about 6-7 couples who all married each other. I suppose thats what would happen if you stayed behind in that town. 2 or 3 of my classmates are now grandparents (yes at 37). I was super stoked to see some of my friends that I enjoyed hanging out with at school and I got to get up with a speech and apologise to our PE teacher for not really having my periods every week - I just hated PE in the hot QLD sun.
Overall a worthwhile trip - a 30year one though? I doubt it. I had my taste and now I am full.
