Bali Update #2

Greetings... firstly we are incredibly safe - there are no Tsunami's here.
A proliferation of bad mullets and scary Perth whitetrash on the otherhand,
does have us terrified - who all arrived for a holiday on Xmas day. WTF # 1
(white trash family # 1) Dad has 2 long dreaded rats tails...4 kids
called...Harley, Davidson, Bonny (I can only assume after the Triump
Bonnybelle) and Declan *Noice*.
WTF#2 (oh the acronym could also be what the fu*K ? - take your pick!!) dad
has a waist long mullet...yes I have photos...Mum and her
fadoubadaahs...never leave the pool bar where she sits and slugs back
baileys type cocktails 'screeching ' look hon, they are only $5 bucks a
cocktail'...
noice...we are playing the guessing game of - did they fund their trip
with....
a) biker drug money...
b) social security fraud
c) compensation claim from a nasty prison incident
d) winning at That's Liofe Competition...

Apart from the that scary fright, we have had a couple of hotel days as:-
1) Jasper got a middle ear infection - followed by
2) Mick getting a middle ear infection - followed by
3) me and Safi getting a sucky head cold - followed by
4) Mick now having the sucky head cold

We are all on the mend now except for Mick who is 'suffering' the head cold
- he will live...just....teehee..but we have been experimenting with a
number of great pharmacuticals....

Xmas day was so classy......NOT!..... as Jasper was still super sick and had
not eaten for 2 days - we all were stoked that his appetite came back and
for lunch we trotted off for Macca's and Timezone...(Mick stayed at hotel
with Safi and her cold).

Xmas dinner was much better at our mates restaurant - and we bypast the
boring xmas menu for Garlic Prawns and whole lobster all for $ 25 a head
(inc drinks and dessert), by far our favourite place is still the little
dodgy warung up the road....Last night in a blackout and massive flooded
downpour, me and Tabba (everyone else was feeling too sick or wanted room
service) waded out in the poo water (thank god for dettol) floods in the
streets for excellent coconut chicken curry and nasi goreng...again for a
massive...29,000rp...(or a little over $4 - and that included drinks and
food for both of us!!)

Cause its so hot and they spend alll day in the pool - the kids are lucky to
see 7.30 pm as they just crash at night so jasper spent Xmas dinner asleep
on 2 chairs on the restaurant!!
Oh Tabba has met the love of her life *Sean*...from Perth (not one of the
WTF families). Good thing is they can continue their great love affair from
a safe distance on MSN when we return. He is a lovely kid also 14 and they
have been spending lots of time together....
Mick and I couldn't resist an overwhelming desire to fully embarass Tabba
the other night when she was having a night swim with *Sean* - when me and
Mick bombed the pool and then proceeded to pash infront of her and her
mates......Over heard was one teenager saying "OMG thats more scaried than
the Grudge...." Tee hee....:0)

Okay I am such a sucker for the beggars...I have tried superhard not
too..but my daily beggar habit is costing me about $20 a day!! Firstly
there is the stumpy 1 legged man in Padma street, then there is an old woman
(yes I know she probably has a million dollar home in Seminyak) with no
teeth and bad body odour - who insists on hugging me every time I see her
and cash her up - then there is some dodgy javanese junkyfu*ked woman who
begs at night with her 6 month old and 3 year old. (I give the kids drinks
and food and the woman cash - which I know probably goes up her arm)

Since Xmas some scarey Aussie tourists have arrived all over the
island...you know the ones that make you cringe and tell others you are from
NZ...cause you are too embarrassed!

Oh the news footage over here on Indo tv is real reality tv - they show
everything and the footage of the Tsunami stuff is incredibly disturbing..

IF you do have some spare cash (even a couple of bucks) after Xmas....chuck
it via credit card...to www.worldvision.com.au or www.redcross.org.au
Oh Kellie and Gordie, my INdo is coming along - thank you both for your
help...every morning I try out new phrases with Made our roomboy (I also
book a "derh you wanta learn indo book)...My favourite phrase is Kepala
Udang (prawn head)...noice...I also made Made laugh one morning when Mick
was being on the stupid side of glamourous when I called him Kerang
Ajar...Tee hee.... I have to do 2 non psych subjects over the next 2 years
and seriously considering Intro Indo as one of them
:0)
I have been checking out some tops villas for our next trip (Xmas 2006) and
have found what could be perfect up north of Seminyak...At present its
$2,500 US per month - but that is for a villa complex that has a pool,
daily maid service, 8 bedrooms, small home theatre, kitchen, BBQ - so
Gordie split between us (we would prolly take 2-3 rooms, you, Sam/Graham,
and some others, it could be a great cheap trip next time)...I have to get
into the next time mode as I am on the downward side of my holiday....only 6
more sleeps left in Bali *sniff*....

Bali Update # 1

Okay - despite the maxitaxi incident (consumer complaint email to follow!)
we managed JUST to get to the airport on time - thanks to one of Mick's
mates! Had booked 1.5 days in advance for a 6.45am pickup....rang at 6.50
to be told it would be there at 7.15 - rang at 7.20 to be told there was no
maxitaxi even on its way for us - f*#kers...Mick's mate then drove to our
house and drove Micks giant van thing with us all in it to the airport - on
Qantas drive - a mere 300m from the airport - Safi projectile vomits over
herself, and Tabba. on footpath at airport - fishing out clean clothes for
both, swearing under my breath and tossing vomit clothes back into Micks van
- where no doubt they will be - some what more disgusting in 2 or so weeks
times!

Okay 'nother note to self - never fly with 3 small children on the same day
one is premenstral and after one is already in a super bad mood from the
above...- never a good combo at the best of times. After an what we will
call 'interesting' flight in which I basically ate nurofen plus like
tictacs, we arrrived at Denpasar airport - got through the Visa on arrival
and to our hotel pretty unscathed physically - emotionally - well lets just
say its a great thing I am studying psychology!!.

Day1 - made it to the day spa - just - had an awesome scrub, massage,
pedicure and flowerbath all for 150k Rp (approx $21). that evening too
exhausted doing nothing - so in true white trash style - taxi-ed it up to
Maccas in kuta to have red fanta + some chocolate BARU (new) Mcflurry thing
- great way none the less to spend my 35th birthday!!!
Day 2 - stayed by the pool all day with Mick and Safi whilst Jasper and
Tabba, Sam and Graham did waterbom park www.waterbom.com to see more. got
a little on the red side of sunburnt on this 5cm strip of skin where my
sunblock ended and my cossies started!! - dinner at IndoNation in Sahadewa
st Legian...noice.
Day 3 - hit the shops with vengence bartering skills...got 5 fairy dresses
for 110k Rp ($14), 4 LV hats (yes one for you Leeny), 1 LV backpack, heaps
of vondutch rip off stuff for Tabba , some clothes for Jasper and Safi.
some of the shopkeepers are heaps greedy starting super high - but I barter
mean - so I can get them, down eventually!! Had dinner at an awesome
warung (little restauranty thing with no tourists in it and it cost for the
seven of us incl drinks , softdrink and Bintangs 70k RP ($10) Also hit
Denpasar - where Mick bought a portable dvd player and last night we got 13
dodgy dvds for 100k RP ($13)Day 4 - we organised with a bemo driver to take us all to Bali bird park to have breakfast with the Mawcaws...heaps good fun and then on the way back -
stopped at Celuk - and bartered furiously for a silver necklace and cross
for Jasper and a silver baby bangle for tabba - paid 100k Rp for both.
($13)Tomorrow is a lazy day doing not much - perhaps a lunchtime bintang!!
Kids are having a great time - Tabba is going so brown - Jasper and Safi -
although sunblocked every hour - are a nice shade of pink. Good thing is
all this swimming, fresh air and sunshine - they are shattered and in bed by
7 or 8pm!!
On the horizon - is a monkey forrest (for the kids -they shit me big time)
oh and instead of lembogan island Mick and i are going to Lovina and Amed
after xmas for a 2 day investigation :0) will send more info when I get a chance.
oh - weather is tops - only furiously rained this afternoon for 1 hour - but
for rainy season - its pretty dry!

Bali is super safe and whilst
security is up all over the place - we still feel quite safe to get out and
about. XMAS day plans are for a picnic at waterbom park folllowed by dinner
at our friends restaurant. OH so far - no runnybum or squatting
toilets...but I am sure I can come up with a story for my next email.
