eBay tossers and general rant...

What Shits me....

1) people walking their dogs down in the bush park near my house not on a leash - especially when they are big and ugly and mean (and the dogs are too) *ha*....seriously there is signs everywhere. I was down there with my kids and a neighbours kid who is terrified of dogs. A big dog came running up towards him and he panicked so I picked him up (he is 9) and the owner comes trotting over going 'i know he is supposed to be on a lead, but he wont hurt'. clearly she did think that the fact the boy was hysterical and crying, constituted him being hurt....dumbb*tch ! Nah the next dumbb*tch was down there with not one, not two but three big dogs running ahead of her in the bush about 30 metres. Seriously - if you own dogs, follow the runs. Even my little jack russel wears his lead down the bush.

2) ebay tossers. Have recently loaded up heaps of old books and items for sell. I sold my old ipod - which was in great working condition when it shipped from here. Anyways the seller emailed me yesterday saying it wasn't turning on. - so I emailed him back directing him to the five Rs of apple support and spent about 45 mins down loading pdf user manuals and other links to assist. I then get this abusive email from him last night threatening me - and claiming I have sold him faulty goods. Now clearly he hasnt followed the advice of apple.com tech support that I sent him - directing him to fully discharge the battery (could take up to 48 hours) and to then fully charge and reload. I have forwarded the matter to ebay resolution centre, this guy is a twat and clearly suffers from RTFM. I don't do returns and certainly wouldnt extend this policy to help this guy out when he has abused me and acted like a dickhead. The item was in 100% condition and only 14 months old. So god knows what he has done to it.

Epilepsy update - off to the neurologist today for more tests. No more big seizures yet.....but he has had 2 more petite mals since the big seizure on Saturday. The emotional impact at the moment is prolly his biggest challenge as a very independant man - who can't drive at the moment - is proving challenging to him. Today...after the appointment he has to go to medicare (i have to go straight to work) and he is catching the bus home...its the first time he has caught the bus since he was in year 10 (1983) at school.

poor baby.

Best way to clean up after a BBQ.

Yesterday (27th) @ about 3.45pm we had an Un-Australia Day BBQ as a back to work, back to school end of holidays kinda celebration. Lots of friends and family over, we had just finished the BBQ and were sitting back having some well made caprioskas and beers. Mick was being his usual annoying self and had just finished poking Duffy with a broom stick when his eyes glazed over and his fists come up clenching near his chest. A look horror on his face made me realise that something really really bad was happening to him physically.

I called out to him and ran over and at the same time he slowly rolled backwards - I managed to catch his head before it hit the wooden floor. Not sure what was going on and assuming he was having a heart attack I screamed for someone to phone the ambos and for someone to take the kids upstairs to watch a dvd, and for someone to go to our neighbours house and find our fireman neighbour - who is also a first aid guru. He was making growling noises, was clenched up and having very severe seizures. He then stopped breathing and turned blue, and I realised we had to get him into a recovery position (not easy given he is 130kg, 190cms and at this stage fitting very violently. It took me, Dean and Paul to roll him over onto his side.

Duffy the amazing unresponsible adult - who previously got us thrown out of such wonderful establishments as Tradies and the Vinyl room - was the calm one on the phone directing the ambos. Kellie and Leeny and Clint got the kids upstairs and Christy went in search of the fireman. After what seemed like a painful and horrible and fucked up eternity (4 mins) his breathing recommended. His jaws and mouth were locked and we attempted to clear his mouth (which we have now learnt - is super dangerous - don't try this at home kids!! as he could have bitten off our fingers). I did manage to get my thumb down the back of his jawline and depress his tongue as we turned him and tilted his neck.

The fitting subsided and his suddenly went very limp and into a really really deep sleep - complete with snoring. By stage the fireman was there and he was helping him to regain consciousness and consoling me that Mick wasn't having a heart attack and dying (GOD the shit that ran through my mind about him dying terrified the absolute bejesus out of me). Literally by the 5 minute mark the ambos where here and Mick was regaining consciousness. When he finally was able to sit up - I was still shit scared but I was feeling positive that he wasn't dying - just yet.

The ambos administed first aid, tests etc . Mick was still not cognitively there - didn't know who he was, where he was or what happened or who we were for about 35 mins. Slowly he started to come back and we helped him to the bathroom to change his clothes (voluntary bladder) before going to hospital. Luckily my beautiful friends and family were in the house and were able to look after the kids (youngest 2 - Tabba was at Simons thank god).

St George was backed up so we went to Bankstown Hospital - in the ambo on the way his cognition came back online to about 90% and by the time he was admitted he was back 100%.
After tests (lots of them) doctors diagnosis EPILEPSY. Tests have ruled out random causes of epilepsy such as metabolic or brain injury and it looks as if its just a dodgy gene. Mick had had a generalised Tonic Clonic Seizure. Apparently he had been having 'Petite Mals' since late last year and put the momentary 'zone outs' as stress or heat (he had some in Bali). We were able to be discharged at 9pm and went home. Jappy was okay ( his friend at school has epilsepy) but Safi was really freaked out about it. Tabba got home about 10.30 and was relieved to see Mick was okay (I had earlier phoned her from the hospital).

Couldn't sleep much all night (expecting another seizure, but managed to drift off to sleep about 4am ish. Woke heaps early and started online reading and research. Mick woke fine as cant believe the fuss *ha* but realises our concerns and his are valid. So today he has been ringing all the extended rellos to find a genetic link - but there is nothing on his dads side - his mums side died with her. So perhaps there is something back on his mothers side.

Today has been heaps weird. Many flashbacks and I have a had a chance to have a good sigh, cry and get over it. Safi is very clinging, whingy and sways between being super affection to Mick to deploying avoidance strategies. I am back to work tomorrow (terrified he may have a fit on his own) but I have to get back and move on with stuff. Tabba will be home most of tomorrow and as soon as he has booked his medical appointment - I will take time off work to go with him to the specialists. He has managed to shuffle things around with work in the short term. We will manage fine - like everything else life chucks at ya, we will get through this. I am sure his next seizure will be scary but at least I know he isn't dying AND i know what to do during an epileptic seizure.

Anyways why is this the best way to clean up??? Well my fabulous friends, also traumatised by the incident - set about cleaning up and packing everything away from the BBQ!!!

Selamat Tahun Baru 2007!!

i know i know i know...
I have been in bali 10 days and this is my first posting!!!!

Today is January 1st 2007 - selamat tahun baru (happy new year).

Ok small recap - arrived in Bali on 23rd of December 2006, for 23 nights. Staying at MBR (again) but this time we got the suite rooms beside the little back pool (there are 3 pools here) and the rooms are awesome (must remember room numbers for next time 170-171-172).

Kids mastering the Selamat Pagi/Siang/Sore/Malam and their apakabahs and the local staff are really impressed by their Bahasa.

Xmas day was great - by the pool and had a deluxe pedicure (1.5 hours and a cool $11). MrMadejerry picked up Leeny and brought her to the hotel (she is in room 170 beside us). 26th had a massage by the pool (a cool $9) and cocktails all day (fresh lime juice with pineapple and vodka - not too many creamy ones. Every morning i have been up early and done my huffy puffy (walking for about an hour or so) - I mostly go up to Seminyak and have been up as far as nearly Kerobokian each day. Today is another story though as its a big big downpour and I have kepala sakit (headache from drinking last night!!)

Been shopping and got some dvds which today when its raining come in super handy, got some pants made at the tailor and bought some shoes and clothes for the kids and safi has scored the bestest every fairy dresses (about 6 in total including a little mermaid style one and a cute buzzybee one - complete with Stinger). Safi has watched garfield 2 about 300 times and loves to sing some dodgy song from it. The first few days the hotel was inundated with bogans with bad behaved kids (who allows their kids to go nuts with beebee guns ???) dickheads. But thank god most of them went home before NYE.

Speaking of bogans there is this attrocious woman from melbourne who is here with her 14yo - who she is allowing to knock back cocktails and smoke her holiday 50s by the pool. MDB - mums drinking buddy - so dodgy - but its always entertaining to watch Bali Bogans - at least she hasnt picked up a kutacowboy to go with it...

Restaurants we have done and loved - SeaSIDE...loving it, Warung Yogya YES....and lots of other little ones along the way - oh have done Kuta Maccas for the fried chicken!!.

did a massage up the road at padma day spa which was good and tomorrow I will have another by the pool here at my hotel - i love bali...i so love bali and mick is talking about doing xmas again here next year (up until recently we only did xmas here every 2nd year - but I would love to do it every year)

so much more to tell - but to tell you the truth - i have been having so much fun - doing nuffin - its been awesome - infact I went like 11 days with out internet and didnt miss it..

so gotta find a way to be an expat here!!! new indo phrase i have learnt - mungkin lagi (maybe later) Kids did Quicksilver swimschool instead (cause its near the hotel) and love it - now they go up every 2nd day to hire surfboards and are becoming real pros

will be doing some more touristy things (like atb and monkeys etc) after the 5th of Jan

will jump online and update laterer...

so love bali..
