Family Wedding - 19th of September 2004

Adventures from my Niece's wedding last weekend - so many stories to tell - so little time

The Grooms Father had a mullet under that hat - whilst wearing his colonel sanders outfit.

The wedding was dry because the entire grooms family are recovering alcoholics + all singing all dancing born again christians...

See above - no need for a DJ cause the teetotalling Vontrapps kept us all entertained...(Aunty Val + 2 cousins sang the family wedding song....":the rose"' - all offkey - but in harmony)

Although the venue was a very new building - and no doubt the flashest place in Kingaroy...during a rare non life Christian Soul perfomance - ACDC's TNT was played and during the "I'm TNT - Oi Oi Oi" bit - Uncle Kev (who weighs approx 150KG) put his foot through the dancefloor

The grooms parents - are divorced - and were placed at opposite sides of the room and never the 2 were to meet.

It was however the most amazing and fun wedding I had been to in ages!! and I felt incredibly priviledged to go.

The other thing - was that I got to spend heaps of time with my ex sisterinlaw Colleen and her partner (the man that is really the best father for my neice and nephew) Rob.

*Background* My eldest brother Bruce and Colleen were married for little over 8-9 years, producing 2 amazing individuals Lauralee and Joseph. Anyways like in all marriage breakups there was angst - HOWEVER Bruce - AKA ER - The emotional retard - could never take responsibility for anything - told all of us nothing but lies...and a very distorted view of the truth. To make matters worse - he really did not invest the effort, time or love into his kids. One really horrible episode springs to mind when Lauralee was 16 and Joe was 12 - they were due to spend Xmas with Bruce and his Defacto Michelle (I so dont' have time to go there but I will one day!!) 2 days before - Bruce rings up and tells Lauralee not to come - and that Joe can come - because Michelle got upset by their last visit 3 years previous and Michelle had said 'there is only room in this house for one bitch and thats me!". Needless to say - neither Joe or Lauralee went and things broke down even further from there.*

So at the wedding I had a great chance to catch up with Colleen, and I felt so sorry - that in the past we had believed the bullshit and had held her in little regard. She truly is an amazing woman, mother and individual. The same goes for Rob - I was blown away by his passion for the kids - he is a great father - and I believe the kids are as fabulous today as they are because of these 2 individuals and not my brother.

Even today nearly a month later Bruce has not rung, or emailled me to ask how HIS DAUGHTERS wedding was. Fuk! what a toss.
