public holiday clums...

I was out this afternoon for a walk/run on a boarded walkway near my house. Had my ipod on heaps loud and was really powering along until I banged my hand on the wooden railing.

Basically I popped my thumb nail out of the nailbed and ontop of the cuticle - however the left hand side of it and top of it is still attached. I banged it so hard and it bled so much we headed off to go to a medical centre. 4 out of the 5 of them in my local area were shut and the one that was open, the sister looked at it and told me to go to the emergency section at the hospital.

Got xrayed - not broken thank god, and the doctor has decided just to clean it up, and leave the semi attached nail on - till basically it will fall off by itself and a new one will eventually grow. oh also got the obligatory tetnus shot!! Gotta say though I got to the hospital at 3pm and I got seen by a nurse and evaluated at about 3.20 and given painkillers until the Dr saw me at 3.45 and we were out of there by 4pm. NOT BAD for a public holiday public hospital emergency visit !!! THANK YOU HOSPITAL *smooch*

Now I have had children, tattoos, a spleenectomy and number of other hurty things in my lifetime, BUT i can tell you this is by far the hurtiest thing I have ever experienced (AND I have a hugely high pain tolerance). Anyways I just had to share how clumsy I can be sometimes....
